The day has finally come. Kevin Durant is making his first appearance in Oklahoma City since joining the Golden State Warriors.

But what everyone is wondering is whether or not fans will boo or cheer when Durant is introduced Saturday night.

There's no answer to this question. People in the national media believe Thunder fans should cheer for Durant for the eight great years he brought to the city of Oklahoma City and to the organization.

And then you have the local media, who think Thunder fans will boo Durant for leaving the Thunder to chase a title with a team that won 73 games just a year ago without him.

With that being said, Thunder fans have the right to boo Durant -- strictly from a basketball perspective.

Kevin Durant did great things for this organization. He brought multiple division titles, got the Thunder to multiple conference championships, and helped guide the Thunder to the NBA Finals in the 2011-12 season.

But the one thing he never did was get the Thunder over the hump to win a championship.

After winning Game 1 in the 2012 NBA Finals, the Thunder dropped four straight games to the eventual NBA champions Miami Heat.

And just last season Durant and the Thunder had one of the most disappointing series when they blew a 3-1 lead against the Golden State Warriors.

After having one of his worst performances as a professional, shooting 10-of-31 from the field in Game 6 at Oklahoma City, the Thunder had to face the daunting task of trying to win Game 7 on the road at Oracle Arena -- and fell short.

For Thunder fans, it was hard to watch the NBA Finals knowing that they were one game away from another chance at LeBron James in the Finals.

For the most part, Thunder fans wanted to see the Warriors lose to the Cavaliers because of how the series played out -- with Warriors forward Draymond Green kicking Thunder center Steven Adams in the lower region.

But with the Warriors losing to the Cavaliers, it made it that much easier for Durant to join the Warriors.

On draft night the Thunder made an interesting trade, sending forward Serge Ibaka to the Orlando Magic for guard Victor Oladipo and rookie forward Domantas Sabonis.

With a potential lineup of Russell Westbrook - Victor Oladipo - Kevin Durant - Enes Kanter - Steven Adams, general manager Sam Presti was hoping this would be a way to show Durant that they have the talent to make another run at the championship.

Instead, Durant opted to sign with the Warriors and team up with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.

The team that just beat the Thunder.

Now, Durant had the opportunity to sign with any team. However, instead of taking care of unfinished business with a team that has the talent to win a championship, he decided to ride the coattails of a team that has won a championship already without him.

Thunder fans were blindsided, betrayed, and basically lost a family member.

Never once did Durant thank the city for the good times. All he had to do was take a page out in the Oklahoman newspaper and thank the fans.

Instead of calling his "friend" Russell Westbrook, Westbrook found out about Durant's departure just like the rest of the world.

From a basketball perspective, Thunder fans have the right to boo Durant because of his basketball decision. But deep down, Thunder fans know Durant is a good person.

If it wasn't for Durant, Oklahoma City wouldn't be on the map. If it wasn't for Durant, there wouldn't be all those banners hanging in the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Not to mention he donated $1 million of his own money when the city of Moore got hit with a tornado.

With that being said, the most anticipated game of the season is finally upon us, and Thunder fans voices will be heard.
