A Summary and Scouting Report of our Fantasy Basketball Draft

I’ve been playing in the same re-draft league, with the same core group of people for the past 8 seasons. I’ve known some for more than half of my life, and was so keen on one being a part of our league, that I married his sister to sweeten the deal.

It’s a 14 team, 14 player H2H league with 2 IL spots, and is the inspiration behind our Deep League Relevant podcast, hosted by Nem, occasionally Daniel, and myself.

Our draft took place on the 18th of October. I normally do a post-draft write-up on our league message board, including a quick scouting report and projected finish, but thought I’d share it with our readers.

Nem Overall: 1st

1st PTS 1st 3PM 1st FT% 4th AST 5th REB

BEST VALUE: Danny Green (113)

Nem got given the ultimate fantasy basketball gift (pick #1 in the draft), and drafted a team worthy of favouritism status. It’s hard to see him not take it out this season (pending a major catastrophe). I'm also expecting him to (try and) grow a beard at some point this season as homage to Harden.

He drafted a team elite in PTS, FT%, PM, AST and REB. He’s also solid in STL and got good value with Danny Green at pick 113.

Paul Overall: 2nd

1st REB 1st STL 2nd AST 4th FT%

BEST VALUE: Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (87), Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (143)

Pauly is always one of the better performers on draft day, and this season was no different.

He drafted a team elite in REB, STL, AST and FT%. He's also solid in PTS and got good value with Rondae Hollis-Jefferson at pick 87 and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist at pick 143.

Adrian Overall: 3rd

1st AST 2nd STL 3rd REB 4th PTS 4th BLK

BEST VALUE: Bismack Biyombo (153)

Adrian (last season’s winner) is wanting to be referred to as the champ, but he’s still two championships away from equalling the championship tallies of the real champs of our league. He stuck to his trusted 4 category punt strategy, which stood him well last season and is elite in BLK, FG%, REB, STL and AST.

He got good value with Bismack Biyombo at pick 153.

Joey Overall: 4th

1st PTS 1st 3PM 1st FT% 4th AST 5th REB

BEST VALUE: Rodney Hood (105), Josh Richardson (176)

It’s hard for me to refer to myself in third person (my ego just isn’t there yet), but overall I’m pretty happy with my 3 category punt draft, and managed to draft a team strong in AST, STL, REB, PTS, 3PM and BLK. Health is going to be my main concern, but thankfully we have 2 IL spots.

I got good value with Rodney Hood at pick 105 and Josh Richardson at pick 176.
