Has 2016 put your team in good shape for a championship run at the end of the season?

We ended the year with a mailbag episode on the Deep League Relevant podcast. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to it, I highly recommend it by either searching for Deep League Relevant using your podcast app, or streaming it from our podcast page. Now, it’s time to brush aside those hangovers and take a look at the waiver wire for some players owned in 7% or less of Yahoo leagues.

Manu Ginobili (San Antonio Spurs, SG/SF)

Owned in 7% of Yahoo leagues.
3 games scheduled between Monday 2nd January and Sunday 8th January.

Why is Manu worth adding?
Yes, that 39-year-old Manu Ginobili. The Spurs don’t have a B2B until 23 January, which bodes well for getting games into Manu. He can obviously still produce when he’s on the court, and has averaged 12 PTS, 5 REB, 2.7 AST, 1.3 STL and 1.7 3PM over the past 7 days, so stream him into your lineup on the days you know he’s playing.

Justin Holiday (New York Knicks, SG/SF)

Owned in 5% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 2nd January and Sunday 8th January.

Why is Justin worth adding?
Justin makes a return visit to this week’s article, almost by default, since Porzingis, Melo and Lee are all questionable to play against Orlando on Monday. Justin will benefit if at least one of those guys are out for a few games, so sneak him into your roster if you need a boost in 3PM and PTS. His averages of 12.3 PTS, 5.3 REB and 2.3 3PM over the past 7 days are a sign of what he’s capable of when given the minutes.

Thomas Robinson (Los Angeles Lakers, PF/C)

Owned in 4% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 2nd January and Sunday 8th January.

Why is Thomas worth adding?
Thomas has been putting up huge per/36 minute numbers in the absence of Larry nance Jr (who is expected to be out for a few more weeks). If you need somebody who can get you a high FG%, rebounds, and some points, then Thomas is your guy. Over the past 7 days, he has been averaging 10 PTS, 7.3 REB and shooting 75% FG in just 18 minutes.

Cory Joseph (Toronto Raptors, PG)

Owned in 5% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 2nd January and Sunday 8th January.

Why is Cory worth adding?
The Raptors are a chance to go small, giving Carroll extra minutes at PF with Patterson out injured, given they don’t have an obvious replacement for his 28 minutes a game. This bodes well for Cory, who is already seeing 22 minutes a game. If that gets bumped up to 27-28 (like it did against the Lakers on Sunday) then we could be looking at some decent PTS and AST numbers from Joseph.
