Washington Wizards game previews between November 21 and November 27, including games against: Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs.

Phoenix Suns

The 3-9 Washington Wizards are starting off the week by hosting the 4-10 Phoenix Suns. The team out of Arizona ranks second in the NBA in pace of play and gives up the most points per game league-wide (114.9). Phoenix’s 3-point defense is not much better, as it ranks 28th, allowing opponents to shoot 38.9 percent. This could help Washington extend its red-hot shooting streak from downtown. Over the course of the last two games, Wizards players have made 50 percent (26/52) of their shots from beyond the arc.

Devin Booker averages 19.2 points per game and has already had both a 38-point and 39-point game this season. The intriguing, albeit inconsistent, sophomore still needs to work on his shooting efficiency (41.4 percent on field goals, 27.9 percent from three) and passing (2.5 assists and 2.5 turnovers per game). As of this writing, the status of T.J. Warren is uncertain. The starting small forward is Phoenix’s second best scorer, averaging 17.7 points per game on 45.8 percent shooting.

Orlando Magic

After a three-day rest, the Wizards travel to Orlando for the second time this season, where they will have the opportunity to avenge the 86-88 loss, in which Markieff Morris missed the potential game-winner at the buzzer. Unlike last time, Washington will have John Wall in its starting lineup.

In the November 5 game, both teams shot poorly, with the Wizards making 39.5 percent of their attempts and the Magic 39.7 percent. Orlando had a significant advantage in assists (21 to 11) and fast-break points (22 to 3). However, the Magic are currently second to last in points per game (92.5) and last in two-point percentage (44.6 percent) in the league.

San Antonio Spurs

Saturday, 26 November 2016 at 07:00 PM ET Home

The San Antonio Spurs are yet again one of the best teams in the NBA this season. In the third game of their road trip and on a second night of a back-to-back, they will face off against the Washington Wizards. The Spurs are currently second in the league in 3-point percentage (39.4 percent) and they turn over the ball only 11.5 times per 100 possessions, good for fifth in the league.

Kawhi Leonard is quietly putting together another MVP-caliber season. He has averaged 24.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.4 steals through 13 games, while shooting 45.4 percent on field goals, 40.3 percent from deep, and 94.7 percent from the free throw line. Given that Kelly Oubre’s career-high 18 points came last year against the Spurs, maybe this game will allow the struggling sophomore to break out of his early-season slump and provide a much-needed boost off the bench.
