After going 1-3 last week, the Wizards have a couple of rest days before traveling to the City of Brotherly Love to face off against the Eastern Conference’s worst team and the league’s worst offensive squad, the Philadelphia 76ers. The 1-9 team shoots a paltry 96.4 points per 100 possessions.
Philly has recently found its savior, though, and his name is Joel Embiid. The 7-footer is currently averaging 18.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. The team also likes to launch shots from deep – they average 28.4 attempts per game (9th in the NBA) and make 35.2% of them. Given the Wizards' questionable three-point defense, it might be an issue. Nevertheless, with John Wall back in the starting lineup and Bradley Beal likely back from the tweaked hamstring injury, it is as much of a must-win contest as a November game can be.

In a second game of a back-to-back for both teams, the Wizards are hosting the New York Knicks. The Jeff Hornacek-led team ranks last in the league defensively, allowing 112.6 points per 100 possessions, which should be a major help for the Washington team that ranks only 21st in the league offensively.
Speaking of offensive struggles, the lack of scoring among Wizards bench players has become a worrying trend, and in a second game in two nights the team will undoubtedly have to rely on them to a larger extent. No player has so far proven to be capable of providing a consistent spark, with Marcus Thornton leading the pack with 7.7 ppg on rather unimpressive 34.2% shooting. There is hope that the promising outings by Tomas Satoransky and Sheldon McClellan have not been just a fluke.

Fate has been kind to the Wizards, as they will finish the week by playing yet another bad Eastern Conference team. It is only mid-November and the Miami Heat are already starting to look like a tank job in the making. Pat Riley has a number of reasons to be upset, seeing as the team scores merely 100 points per 100 possessions (second to last in the league).
Hassan Whiteside leads the team in points (17.5) and rebounds (14.6) per game. Goran Dragic – essential for better offensive play – will probably come back from his injury just in time for this matchup. While Miami ranks last in the league in two-point percentage (44.6%), the young Heat squat shoots quite well from three-point land – 36.3%, good enough for 8th in the NBA.
