Suns trade Eric Bledsoe to the Bucks for Monroe and picks

The Phoenix Suns have traded Eric Bledsoe for Greg Monroe and draft picks.

The Phoenix Suns have traded guard Eric Bledsoe to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for forward Greg Monroe, along with a first-round draft pick and second-round draft pick, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Bledsoe, 27, reportedly approached management before the season began and asked to be traded. After tweeting, "I Dont wanna be here," the team held him out of games for disciplinary reasons, along with team practices, as general manager Ryan McDonough worked to find a suitable trade for the disgruntled guard.

Coming off a career season where he averaged 21.1 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds, many felt Bledsoe had given up on the Suns. As he turns 28 years old later this year, Bledsoe can say he's been on one winning team with the Suns, the 2013-14 edition that went 48-34, finished 10th in the Western COnference, and missed the playoffs.

Bledsoe now heads to an up-and-coming Bucks team that has an established young star in Giannis Atentekoumpo and a direction for their franchise, something Bledsoe wanted.

In his five-year tenure with the Suns, Bledsoe averaged 18.8 points, 6 assists, and 4.8 rebounds in 224 games.

The Suns will take on the final year Greg Monroe's $17.9 million contract, while picking up a future first-round pick.

Monroe, 27, was taken 11 picks ahead of Bledsoe in the 2010 NBA Draft, with the latter taken off the board at No. 7 overall by the Detroit Pistons.

In his three-year tenure with tenure with the Milwaukee Bucks, Monroe has averaged 13.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 165 games. He is currently battling soreness in his left calf and is expected to miss two weeks.

The deal was reportedly struck late Monday night, as teams spent early Tuesday morning finalizing medical data for the players involved in the deal, Wojnarowski reported. The first-round pick would be lottery protected as well.

Bledsoe is not expected to suit up for the Bucks on Tuesday night against Cleveland, as the plan is for him to meet with the team on Wednesday in San Antonito, according to ESPN's Dave  McMenamin.
