News about the Bucks just seems to keep getting better.  First, Milwaukee agrees with Dellavedova and Teletovic, there are talks between Wade and the team, and now, we have secured Giannis for the long term.

The report first comes from a Greek NBA website later tweeted by Paul Henning.

The extension is going to make both the Bucks and Giannis very happy.  The deal will be a 5 year, $145 million one, making Giannis earn $29 million a year.  The Bucks get to secure Antetokounmpo for a long time, and Giannis gets paid.  It's a win-win for both sides.

Giannis Anteokounmpo had an incredible year last year, truly warranting this major deal.  The numbers were phenomenal from him.  He averaged 16.9 PPG, 4.3 APG, and 7.7 RPG.  To add to this he had multiple triple doubles over the season, including one playing against one of his role models, Kobe Bryant.

The numbers always tell only one side of the story however.  Giannis' body is perfect for him.  His length allows him to start getting ready for dunk attempts at the 3 point line.  His height forces a switch on defense, having a taller player guard him, freeing up other players around the court.  His wingspan allows for blocked shots and steals.  He certainly isn't the slowest player out there despite 6'11".

Giannis was tested at point guard by Jason Kidd, and it worked wonders.  Giannis dominated the floor at point guard, and his stretch of triple doubles earned him the nickname of "Magic Giannison," a reference to NBA legend Magic Johnson, who had a similar body to the Greek Freak.  Right now Giannis is playing for his home nation of Greece, and there he seems to be the LeBron James of European basketball.  In the NBA, he's certainly not at that level, primarily with an inconsistent at best jump shot, but he is a force to be reckoned with.  If Giannis is surrounded by the right pieces and is able to develop a more consistent jumper, we could be having a conversation about how he's one of the top players in the NBA.

The Bucks are definitely Giannis' team.  The team, in order to succeed, needs to be built around him and fill the roles he cannot.  With the recent expected acquisitions of more consistent shooters in Mirza Teletovic and Matthew Dellavedova, that plan seems to be happening.

Giannis is expected to sign the contract July 6th.
