Sterling Brown, a guard from Southern Methodist University, will be joining the Milwaukee Bucks.  Brown was the 46th pick in the draft, and the Bucks acquired that from the Philadelphia 76ers.  The Bucks traded their original 48th pick to the Los Angeles Clippers.  

Brown is a very safe 3-and-D player who has the potential to be a huge help for the Bucks.  By the very definition of 3-and-D, the strengths of Sterling Brown include his exceptional 3 point shooting and solid defense.  For his career, Brown has shot 50.4% from the field and an incredible 45.1% from 3 point range.  That's 128 3 pointers made out of 284 attempts.  

Sterling's defense is another strong suit.  With 1.5 steals per game, he's active on the defensive end of the floor.  Other advanced defensive stats will back him up as well.  The reason he is "very safe" is because his strengths are that of a textbook 3-and-D player.  The Bucks wanted someone like Sterling Brown, and they ended up getting him.  

Brown averaged 13.4 PPG, 6.5 RPG, and 3.0 APG in his final season at SMU.  He shot 45.9% from the field and 44.9% from 3 point range.  Ideally, I would want to see that FG percentage be a little higher, but if he can consistently hit threes at the rate he has been, I can live with that.  He still scored over 13 points per game with those percentages, so I doubt his FG percentage is a hindrance.  

I'm pretty shocked Brown fell this far.  You would think a player with a 3 point shot that consistent in this modern NBA would be someone on everyone's radar.  The Bucks made a good move by trading for this pick, and they are lucky Brown was there.  This pick gives me a lot of confidence in Jon Horst and his staff.  Brown has plenty of game experience; he just needs to get acclimated to the NBA like all rookies.
