As your playoff brackets start to take shape these last few weeks, the lesser NBA teams will be making some serious rotation changes as a nail in their own coffin. “Shut-Downs,” the fantasy boogie-man that's been threatening our sanity all season may finally rear its ugly head, as well, and the more passionate and dedicated teams and players will no doubt be firing on all cylinders for playoff placement, or just to stay alive.
One thing to note this week, and possibly more to come, is the serious lack of big-men that are even somewhat standard-worthy. If you're in need of bigs at this point, you should really keep your eyes on the news for rotation changes and try to lock down the next standard worthy big you can find. That being said, let's look at this week's guard-heavy streaming lineup.
Norris Cole 26% ownership
Monday Wednesday Friday Saturday
Cole's inefficiency can be daunting for categories, but he's a great points league pickup, and even for certain category builds. He will be given the green light as a pinch-starter as the Pelicans continue to be an utter disappointment this season and if he isn't already he will probably be owned in your league soon.
Mario Chalmers 28% ownership
Monday Wednesday Friday Saturday
While Tony Allen has stated that he wants to return sometime before the post-season, other reports still have him listed as day-to-day, either way he's missed his last 8 games on a day-to-day basis. This has allowed Rio more minutes at shooting guard and he has maintained a nice hot streak scoring 10+ for 5 games, one three for the last 4 games and 15 steals over his last 5.
Lance Stephenson 12% ownership
Monday Wednesday Friday Saturday
Lance has a pretty straightforward game. He is not the 3-point shooter he once was, and he's probably not worth holding onto for a full week, but more often than not he is a nice scoring punch without hurting your shooting percentages. In 8 games with the Grizzlies, he's only missed double-digits twice.
Jerryd Bayless 19% ownership
Monday Wednesday Saturday Sunday
He's going to maintain value so long as MCW stays on the sidelines with patella tendinitis in his knee and a sore hip as well. I find Bayless is an underrated streaming option even with MCW in the lineup, and with the Bucks playing 4 games including a B2B on Saturday and Sunday, holding him for the week might not be a bad idea at all.
Cody Zeller 17% ownership
Monday Wednesday Friday Saturday
The rebounds are usually there and he is becoming a more reliable shot blocker, but the points are sporadic at best. He seems to be in a lock for minutes, though so he's a capable enough big that could you surprise you with a nice line. However, of Charlotte's 4 games this week, they have a B2B on the very busy Friday and Saturday set, so check you're lineups before an add.
Steven Adams 12% ownership
Wednesday Friday Saturday
Adams continues to be a reliable option, though he has been even quieter than usual in the last few weeks. He is one of the better shot-blockers on the wire, but it is a minutes issue which limits him. The Thunder play 3 games, including the very popular Friday and Saturday B2B.
DJ Augustin 20% ownership
Tuesday Thursday Saturday
Augustin is making a nice push for minutes since being traded to Denver and has only missed the 10-point mark 3 times in 9 games. He has hit at least a three in every game and is averaging 3.5 assists to boot. Denver only plays 3 games on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday making DJ a good streaming fit for a busy week.
Patty Mills 12% ownership
Monday Wednesday Saturday Sunday
It would appear Patty Mills will most likely be playing minutes when the Spurs guards are rested down the stretch. The veteran shooting presence has seen more maturity since campaigning with San Antonio and improved his efficiency as a points and threes guy. Although he has been on a 4-game cold streak, the Spurs play 4 games this week including a B2B Monday and Tuesday.
Shabazz Muhammed 10% ownership
Monday Tuesday Friday
Kevin Martin has been officially waived and Shabazz is as much “unleashed” as he's going to get this season. Pretty much strictly for points and rebounds, though he has been on a good shooting thus far, pretty much on or around .500 all month long. The Wolves play only 3 games this week, but with those games falling on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, he could very well be worth the pickup even if you only keep him for the B2B set.
Markel Brown 8% ownership
Tuesday Friday Sunday
Brown is in an interesting situation for Brooklyn. In his last 2 games, he has tallied 44 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 threes on 57% field goal shooting. Unfortunately he's in a timeshare with 2 other similar players, Ellington and now Kilpatrick, who led the D-League in scoring. If they split minutes three ways, none of them are going to be standard worthy, so look for the hot-hand among them until Hollis-Jefferson returns.
It only takes one injury to turn a streamer into a standard must-hold. If you're in a playoff push now is not the time to relax on your fantasy studies. Stay diligent, folks, and see ya next week!
