Fantasy Basketball Week 7 Schedule Primer

Welcome! We have moved past Thanksgiving week, and all the schedule craziness it created and into the perfect week for streaming.  This matchup brings that start of December and is prime time for both weekly and daily changes head-to-head leagues, so let us not waste anymore more time.  Do not forget to check out the fantastic Advanced Schedule Grid on Hashtag Basketball.  Let's do it.

Weekly lock leagues

Tip of the week:  Three teams (Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Toronto Raptors) play only two games this week.  Conversely, 11 squads play four games, so two game players get hairy this week.  It would be difficult to bench Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, Kemba Walker, and Dennis Schroder, but it could be worth it in shallow leagues.  The rest of the two gamers would be a stretch.  Keep that in mind when setting your lineup.

Note: 16 teams play three games this week.  That is over half the league, so I doubt you are benching any top 50 player who has three games this week.  It is entirely natural for your lineup to feature a handful of three games players.

Top 10 (plus a bonus) potential pickups playing four games:  (All ownership percentages based on ESPN leagues and under 40 percent owned was the cut-off for available on the waiver wire)

  1. Austin Rivers- LA Clippers (19.6%)- A boost in points, assists, threes, and steals sign me up.
  2. T.J. McConnell- Philadelphia 76ers (9.3%)- averaging 5.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game with a healthy 3.5 rebounds. A worthy add for the four-game week
  3. Danny Green- San Antonio Spurs (16.3%)- over a block and a steal per game plus four rebounds, nearly two assists, and double-digit points with two 3-pointers made per game. Sign me up.
  4. Kyle Anderson- San Antonio Spurs (22.3%)- averaging almost a block and a steal per game plus over six rebounds with good percentages. Worthy addition until Kawhi Leonard returns
  5. Larry Nance Jr.- Los Angeles Lakers (10.2%)- Expected to play on Monday and return to the starting five. Should produce quality rebounds, steals, and blocks with over ten points per game.
  6. Wesley Johnson- LA Clippers (8.0%)- Riding a hot streak at the moment, but should be safe for a block and a steal per game in the minutes
  7. Josh Richardson- Miami Heat (7.0%)- His recent cold spell has dropped him down this list and in ownership percentage, but I still believe he can produce double-digit points with a steal and a block per game at season’s end
  8. Terrance Ross- Orlando Magic (4.9%)- Current steals streamer who could return to last year’s numbers in a hurry. I still believe
  9. Tyler Johnson- Miami Heat (13.3%)- Out of position blocks are a significant boost
  10. George Hill- Sacramento Kings (37.1%)- Hill would be much higher if Joerger played him over 30 minutes and left him to handle the ball more.
  11. Jonathon Simmons- Orlando Magic (27.4%)- averaging 14.0 points a game (a significant boost in four games over someone scoring just ten points per

***If I knew Jeff Teague would be out all week (he has missed two straight games with an Achilles injury), Tyus Jones (0.7%) would be my number five pickup of the week.

Daily roster changes

Head-to-head leagues with daily roster changes are the best for streaming players.  Most leagues create a limit to the additions for the matchup to keep the streaming from getting too crazy.  That makes the goal to maximize the pickup's usefulness by using back-to-back sets or just any schedule advantage.

First, a word on the schedule itself: Only one day has double-digit games, and that is Wednesday with 10.  That means you could have an empty space in your starting lineup every single day this week.  That creates a plethora of streaming options and way to attack streaming.  This matchup is the week you need to maximize your additions to create a games played advantage.

NOTE: Quality games are not as important this week because the schedule is spread out.  I will mention the Cleveland Cavaliers have a great schedule avoiding Wednesday early in the week and the Los Angeles Clippers play three games from Thursday to Sunday a great way to maximize your additions.

I won’t eliminate any days this week, and we will jump right into the back-to-back sets.

Back-to-backs

Monday-Tuesday

Cleveland Cavaliers

Kyle Korver (10.1%)- a shot at double-digit points and averaging 2.5 3-pointers made per game.  Fantastic if you are searching for a few additional threes.

J.R. Smith (9.4%)- Similar threes streamer, but Smith is only averaging 1.7 per game.

Sacramento Kings

George Hill (37.1%)- Hill is only averaging 26.1 minutes per game, but still is producing 3.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.9 steals, and 9.1 points not bad across the board.

Buddy Hield (23.5%)- Hield is a stream for points, threes, and steals and a quality one at that.

Bogdan Bogdanovic (2.4%)- Handling the ball a bit more in recent games and should be safe for 10 points and a steal. Not sexy, but Bogdanovic is a decent deeper league add.

Kosta Koufos (1.6%)- 6.2 rebounds, 0.7 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game sound good to me in 14 team leagues and deeper.

Tuesday-Wednesday

Phoenix Suns

Tyson Chandler (21.4%)- Safe rebounds streamer even in limited minutes.

Greg Monroe (37.7%)- riding the playing time roller coaster, but another safe rebounder even in a limited run.

Marquese Chriss (32.5%)- Add for blocks just hope the fouls do not get in the way.

Josh Jackson (18.8%)- Averaging 1.3 steals per game this season.

Mike James (9.6%)- four assists, three rebounds, and a steal per game are certainly in play.

Tyler Ulis (4.4%)- starting point guard on an NBA team. Should average around four assists and over a steal per game.

Washington Wizards

Markieff Morris (39.6%)- The addition of the week!!! Morris should be a top 80 player by season’s end.  Get him now!

Kelly Oubre Jr. (19.8%)- Asked to score more with John Wall sidelined.  Solid points with five rebounds per game.

Tim Frazier (2.5%)- Should provide assists and steals while Wall misses time.  I would probably hold for the two weeks in a 12 team league.

Miami Heat

Josh Richardson (7.0%)- Read the weekly rankings for my thoughts on Richardson.  I still believe the turnaround is upon us.

Tyler Johnson (13.3%)- averaging 0.8 blocks per game as a guard is a genuine boost with a sprinkle of help in four additional categories

Justise Winslow (13.6%)- I wish I could recommend Winslow more, but he is a guard-eligible getting you 5.6 rebounds per game.

Kelly Olynyk (16.1%)- More of a deeper league addition for his threes, rebounds, and points as a big.

Wayne Ellington (2.4%)- Streamer for 3-pointers and one of the best as he averages 2.4 per game for the season in limited minutes.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Tyus Jones (0.7%)- Two straight stellar performances with Teague sidelined and a great add if he remains out in every league.  If Teague returns, he is a stream for assists and steals in a deeper league.

Tuesday-Thursday pseudo (In case your roster is full on Wednesday)

Chicago Bulls

Kris Dunn (29.8%)- Do not love Dunn as an NBA starting point guard, but a peek at his season averages tell you he is useful for fantasy.  Just expect a roller coaster ride to reach them.

Bobby Portis (35.5%)- Rebounds, threes, and points target.

Denzel Valentine (15.6%)- Valentine is a fantasy-friendly player who is finally getting enough minutes.  Expect threes, rebounds, assists, and points help during this back-to-back.

Jerian Grant (7.6%)- Grant is coming off two straight 20 plus point games and is averaging over five assists per game on the season.

Denver Nuggets

Mason Plumlee (8.5%)- Averaging 0.8 steals and 0.9 blocks per game in limited minutes this season.

Milwaukee Bucks

John Henson (14.4%)- Blocks and rebound are Henson’s calling card.

Tony Snell (2.7%)- Snell is playing significant minutes and is a worthy threes selection.

Utah Jazz

Rodney Hood (38.9%)- Hood should continue to score enough points and 3-pointers to be added and held in 10 and 12 team leagues.  Pick him up!

Joe Ingles (35.4%)- Ingles is producing a standard league relevant across the board stat line.  He is second place in my must add of the week contest.

Thabo Sefolosha (1.7%)- steals stream who kicks in 4.5 rebounds per game.  Not bad.

Ekpe Udoh (0.5%)- Averaging 1.5 blocks per game in just 15 minutes a night.

Alec Burks (0.3%)- Burks can average a steal per game for some deeper league help.

Cleveland Cavaliers

List available under Monday-Tuesday.

Wednesday-Thursday

Philadelphia 76ers

T.J. McConnell (9.3%)- Close to a top 100 player when Ben Simmons is out, and a worthy hold for assists and steals with solid rebounds for a guard even when Simmons plays.

Jerryd Bayless (1.4%)- threes, steals and points streamer in a deeper league.

Thursday-Friday

Chicago Bulls

List available under Tuesday-Thursday pseudo.

Utah Jazz

List available under Tuesday-Thursday pseudo.

Friday-Saturday

Memphis Grizzlies

JaMychal Green (12.8%)- A safe 12 points and six boards when healthy.

Mario Chalmers (12.7%)- starting at the one with Mike Conley sidelined should provide solid assists, steals, and rebounds during that time.

Chandler Parsons (5.0%)- I am not holding my breath he returns to his previous form, but a viable streamer these days.

New Orleans Pelicans

E’Twaun Moore (6.5%)- steals streamer who is averaging 11.6 points per game on the season.

Jameer Nelson (1.4%)- Averaging almost five assists per game and 0.9 steals.

Darius Miller (0.9%)- Threes add in a deeper league.

Detroit Pistons

Ish Smith (4.9%)- Four assists per game do not come easy on the wire, but Smith is producing it plus a sturdy field goal percentage and over 9.5 points per game.

Stanley Johnson (1.6%)- Johnson averages 1.3 steals per game for the season making him a worthy addition if you are searching for a categorical boost.

Sacramento Kings

List available under Monday-Tuesday.

Saturday-Sunday

LA Clippers

Austin Rivers (19.6%)- Rivers is providing about five assists per game since the Patrick Beverly injury plus 12.9 points per game, 2.1 3-pointers made, and 1.7 steals.  Add with confidence if you need help in those areas.

Wesley Johnson (8.0%)- Add Johnson if you need help in both defensive categories as he should come close to a block and a steal per game.

Los Angeles Lakers

Larry Nance Jr (10.2%)- Should be returning from injury on Monday.  Potentially, he sits out one of these two games, but if not he should provide quality steals, rebounds, and blocks with double-digit points each night.

Looking ahead to Week 8

Perhaps, you have an extra pickup heading into Sunday and would like to take advantage of both Sunday and the beginning of next week.  Here is the place for you:

Sunday-Monday of Week 8

New York Knicks

Courtney Lee (21.4%)- Should be owned in a lot more leagues.  Hot right now, but providing an across the board stat line that is worth holding in 12 team leagues.

Kyle O’Quinn (2.4%)- If Kanter remains out then O’Quinn is a worthy pickup.

Jarrett Jack (2.1%)- Jack is averaging 6.1 assists per game and is on the wire.  Add him if you need help in that category.

Golden State Warriors

Andre Iguodala (12.0%)- Iggy is filling in admirably for Kevin Durant at the moment, but I suspect KD will be back soon putting Iguodala on the fringe of the streaming class.

Zaza Pachulia (2.5%)- Pachulia is another guy seeing an uptick in KD’s absence.  He should provide around five rebounds per game in this back-to-back with upside for double-digit points and a steal per game.

David West (1.4%)- West is averaging 1.2 blocks per game making him a worthy addition if you are needy.

Orlando Magic

Jonathon Simmons (27.4%)- 14 points per game on average probably the best you will find on the wire.

Terrance Ross (4.9%)- Mentioned in the weekly waivers section.

Bismack Biyombo (1.9%)- block streamer and a good one.

San Antonio Spurs

Kyle Anderson (22.3%)- Look at the weekly additions for the scoop.

Tony Parker (1.8%)- returns from injury on Monday and probably sits out one of these back-to-back games tread lightly.

Dejounte Murray (21.5%)- questionable playing time with Parker returning, but he has been quality in rebound and steals.

Danny Green (16.3%)- Green is approaching own territory by averaging 4.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals, 1.0 blocks and 10.3 points per game.  Add him!

Patty Mills (5.8%)- Could be lacking minutes, but averaging 3.5 assists per game and almost a full steal not a bad add in deeper leagues.

Minnesota Timberwolves

List available under Tuesday-Wednesday.
