Fantasy managers needed a boost in game played can check out our weekly schedule preview for all the latest.

Fantasy managers saw a shift in how the NBA is handling their health and safety protocols on Jan. 21. They postponed the Memphis Grizzlies' next three games and sat them until Jan. 27 when they are scheduled to face the Chicago Bulls. It is not because they have fewer than eight players available.

Perhaps the fear is Memphis will be below the minimum or the league is trying to keep the outbreaks isolated as much as possible. Sitting the entire team for a week could become problematic quickly from a schedule premise, though. It will be interesting to see if they immediately cancel multiple games upon the next positive test.

Be sure to get the Grizzles players out of your lineup for Friday, Sunday, and Monday’s canceled games.

Fantasy basketball talking points

  1. Michael Porter Jr. is questionable to play on Friday night. He has been in the league’s health and safety protocols. MPJ’s last game took place on Dec. 29. The Mavericks have had four players in for two weeks now. Fantasy managers were hoping for short absences, but that is not happening. Do not be afraid to cut bait when a fringe option enters the protocols.
  2. Fans saw the first game of the Nets' “Big 3” on Wednesday night. Expect plenty of offense and a lot of high-scoring games. Target players going against Brooklyn as massive numbers could be on the way.
  3. Jerami Grant is off to an incredible start in Detroit. The 6’8 forward is averaging 25.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 0.9 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game so far. He ranks in the top 15 of the year. Now is the perfect time to sell if someone believes he is a top 30 player.
  4. Now is the time to evaluate your roster. Is your team light in a category you need to win every week? Should you punt somewhere and focus on other areas? Take a look and do not be afraid to make a trade to fill the holes.
  5. Looking ahead to Week 6, the LA Clippers have the best scheduled with four games including three on low volume days. Fantasy managers looking to get ahead on games in the upcoming week may want to add a Clipper.

Back-to-backs

There are 13 games on Friday meaning nobody has room in their roster to stream. No team is playing a Saturday-Sunday back-to-back. There are also double-digit games on Monday. The focus this weekend should be adding someone on Sunday that plays on Tuesday of Week 6.
