The playoffs are approaching fast in head-to-head fantasy basketball leagues. This article prepares you for your matchups this week.
Hello, Week 20 in fantasy basketball is here. The All-Star Break has passed, and now there are only seven weeks left in the regular season. That means your fantasy league is likely narrowing down its playoff field and ultimately crowning a champion. Today, I aim to help you sort out your pickups in each of your head-to-head leagues. Please do not forget to check out the fantastic Advanced Schedule Grid on Hashtag Basketball. Without further ado, let us jump right into it.
Weekly lock leagues
Tips for the week: The Sacramento Kings play five games this week. 15 other teams play four games during the matchup. The San Antonio Spurs are the team to stay away from this week with just two contests. I would not start any Spur in my weekly lineup.
Note: 13 teams play three games this week, so your lineup may feature a player or two from this group. Do not panic if your squad is starting a few from this category.
Top 10 potential pickups playing four games: (All ownership percentages based on ESPN leagues and under 40 percent owned was the cut-off for available on the waiver wire)
- De’Aaron Fox- Sacramento Kings (39.5%)- Fox is consistently playing 30 plus minutes since the calendar flipped over to 2018. In that period, Fox is averaging 13.8 points, 0.9 3-pointers made, 2.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game 30.0 minutes a night. Five contests of that production sound pretty tasty from the waiver wire.
- Bogdan Bogdanovic- Sacramento Kings (26.9%)- Bogdanovic is a consistent threat in 3-pointers made, assists, and steals plus Bogi chips in the occasional 20 point evening. Add him with confidence as I suspect he is top 100 player for the remainder of the season.
- Buddy Hield- Sacramento Kings (20.5%)- Points and 3-pointers specialist who is averaging nearly a steal per game. Add that up over five contests and Hield could be the difference in all three categories.
- Austin Rivers- LA Clippers (28.2%)- Rivers is averaging 15.5 points, 2.4 3-pointers made, 2.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game on the season. He should only handle the ball more with Blake in Detroit. Add him.
- Ish Smith- Detroit Pistons (36.3%)- Should be owned in all leagues while he is starting.
- Wesley Matthews- Dallas Mavericks (36.4%)- Matthews is averaging 13.0 points, 2.5 3-pointers made, 3.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.2 steals per game on the season and is worth owning in every league because of it.
- John Henson- Milwaukee Bucks (26.6%)- Blocks and rebounds target who is averaging about a dozen points per game recently.
- Jarrett Allen- Brooklyn Nets (29.6%)- In February, Allen is averaging 12.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 0.9 blocks and 0.8 steals per game in just 23.5 minutes a night. Look for Allen to be a force the rest of the way.
- Tomas Satoransky- Washington Wizards (33.8%)- In his 11 games as a starter, Satoransky is averaging 11.9 points, 5.7 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game or worthy of owning in all leagues until John Wall returns.
- Taurean Prince- Atlanta Hawks (18.7%)- Prince is a solid across the board contributor that continues to be underrated. Add him and watch your team move up in the standings.
Daily roster changes
First, a word on the schedule itself: Both Monday and Friday feature ten game slates. On Wednesday, there are nine games. Those are the three most substantial days, but often you can steal stream on a ten game slate. All days will be featured in the breakdown to provide you with the best fit for your squad.
NOTE: The absolute best schedule this week goes to the Kings with five games and four on light schedule days.
