Fantasy basketball deep league suggestions for games between 31 October and 6 November.

The NBA is back, and we can now resume our natural habitat of checking player's box scores and rushing to the waiver wire to see if a player’s backup is available when they rush off with an injury, only to return minutes later.

If you’re not familiar with this article, it’s intended for those who play in deep leagues and features players worth adding that are owned in 10% or less of Yahoo leagues.

We’re also moving the focus of our podcast to focus on deep leagues, so if you’re a fan of these articles feel free to download our podcast Deep League Relevant, or search for Deep League Relevant using your podcast app.

Dewayne Dedmon (San Antonio Spurs, C)

Owned in 10% of Yahoo leagues.
3 games scheduled between Monday 31st October and Sunday 6th November.

Why is Dewayne worth adding?
With Tim Duncan gone the Spurs no longer have a starting defensive anchor in the post, and with Pop’s fondness of the fundamentals and resting players you can expect Dedmon (the only defensive minded big out of Gasol, Aldridge, Lee and himself) to get plenty of minutes. So far this season he has averaged 7 PTS, 7.3 REB, 2 BLK, 52.6% FG and 80% FT in 18 minutes. Don’t expect him to start, but expect him to produce decent numbers in 20 minutes.

Jared Dudley (Phoenix Suns, SG/SF)

Owned in 8% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 31st October and Sunday 6th November.

Why is Jared worth adding?
Dudley won’t be deep league relevant for the whole season, but he’s starting as he teaches Chriss and Bender the ropes and has played 26 MPG so far this season, which is enough for him to flirt with a 1-1-1 in 3PM-STL-BLK on most night, something that’s valuable in more than deep leagues.

Nick Young (Los Angeles Lakers, SG/SF)

Owned in 5% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 31st October and Sunday 6th November.

Why is Nick worth adding?
The Lakers surprised most of us by making Young their opening night starter, and surprised everybody else by keeping it through solid defensive play. He has averaged 12.3 PTS, 2 3PM and just under 1 STL and 1 BLK a game in 27 minutes.

Going Deeper

Now let's take this a little deeper and look for players owned in 1% or less of Yahoo leagues.

Beno Udrih (Detroit Pistons, PG)

Owned in 0% of Yahoo leagues.
3 games scheduled between Monday 31st October and Sunday 6th November.

Why is Beno worth adding?
Udrih has been brought in as Ish Smith’s back-up while Jackson recovers from his injury, and has averaged 8 PTS, 4.3 AST and 50% FG. Smith has never been an efficient shooter (around the 40% mark), so Udrih could earn some extra minutes due to his more efficient shooting (46.3% career from the field).

Malcolm Delaney (Atlanta Hawks, SG)

Owned in 1% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 31st October and Sunday 6th November.

Why is Malcolm worth adding?
Atlanta started the season by waiving Jack, giving Delaney backup point guard duties, which shows you how much faith Atlanta has in their rookie. He has averaged 6 PTS, 4.5 AST and 1 STL, and has shown glimpses of an outside shot that we all know he has.

Sneaky Sunday Streamer

If you have a roster spot dedicated to streaming and you’ve got a transaction available on Sunday night, it’s always smart to make a transaction before your transaction counter gets resets for the week. It’s even smarter if that transaction is playing in a Monday and Tuesday back-to-back.

Kosta Koufos (Sacramento Kings, PF/C)

Owned in 3% of Yahoo leagues.
5 games scheduled between Monday 31st October and Sunday 6th November.

Why is Kosta worth adding?
Kosta isn’t the most reliable of fantasy players, even in deeper leagues, but the Kings play in a back-to-back on Monday and Tuesday, and another 3 games after that. He’s usually good for a decent amount of rebounds, an efficient FG% and a block.
