Deep League Relevant: 28 Nov - 4 Dec

Welcome to another edition of Deep League Relevant. This week we’re going to take a look at the waiver wire for some players owned in 7% or less of Yahoo leagues.

If you like these articles, feel free to listen to our fantasy basketball podcast called Deep League Relevant. Some of the topics we covered in last night's episode are the Orlando Magic's new starting five, The Lakers without D'Angelo Russell, the do's and do not's of trading and taking a look at the week 6 schedule.

You can find it by searching for Deep League Relevant using your podcast app, Google Play or Stitcher. It's a weekly podcast that focuses on deep leagues.

D.J. Augustin (Orlando Magic, PG)

Owned in 4% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 28th November and Sunday 4th December.

Why is D.J. worth adding?
Augustin surprised us with a start last night and chipped in with 11 PTS, 5 AST, and 1 3PM. Don’t expect big minutes, especially since he’ll still be in a time-share with Payton, even if he continues to start, but if you’re in need of assists then D.J. is in play for a roster spot.

Ian Mahinmi (Washington Wizards, C)

Owned in 4% of Yahoo leagues.
3 games scheduled between Monday 28th November and Sunday 4th December.

Why is Ian worth adding?
Mahinmi played his first game for the Wizards after signing a 4 year, $64 million dollar contract in the off-season. They didn’t sign him to $16 million a year to play under 20 minutes a game, so if he can get his minutes up to the 22-24 mark (in a few weeks) he could potentially get close to putting up the 9.3 PTS, 7.1, 1.1 BLK stat line he averaged playing 25 minutes in Indiana last season.

Jose Calderon (Los Angeles Lakers, PG)

Owned in 2% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 28th November and Sunday 4th December.

Why is Jose worth adding?
Jose is starting in place for D’Angelo Russell, and in his 5 games as a starter this season, has averaged 8 PTS, 4.6 AST and 1.4 3PM in a little under 20 minutes of playing time. He should be good for close to 10 PTS and 5 AST most nights the Lakers aren’t facing a quick, athletic point guard (until Russell returns).

P.J. Tucker (Phoenix Suns, SG/SF)

Owned in 7% of Yahoo leagues.
2 games scheduled between Monday 28th November and Sunday 4th December.

Why is P.J. worth adding?
Tucker is now the starting in Phoenix, and saw his ownership spike up to 7% after his 21 PTS, 8 REB, and 3 3PM performance against Denver. Keep in mind that he did that in 42 minutes, but if he continues to see 30 minutes a game it means he has value in deeper leagues. Be warned that the Suns only play twice this week, and don't play until Wednesday.

Check Their Status Closer to Game-time

These players are relevant depending on game-time situations.

Jameer Nelson (Denver Nuggets, PG)

Owned in 6% of Yahoo leagues.
3 games scheduled between Monday 28th November and Sunday 4th December.

Why is Jameer worth adding?
Nelson’s value is tied to when Will Barton returns. Keep an eye open for any news closer to tip-off before adding Jameer to your team, but if he starts again, you can expect a stat line in the vicinity of the 13 PTS, 6.3 AST and 2.3 3PM he has been averaging over the past 7 days.
