Fantasy Basketball Deep League Suggestions: 13 Feb - 19 Feb

Whether you’re in a fantasy basketball league that has week 17 spread over two weeks or one, you want to make sure you get as many games in as possible.

Whether you’re in a fantasy basketball league that has week 17 spread over two weeks or one, you want to make sure you get as many games in as possible.

Whether you’re in a league that has week 17 spread over two weeks or one, you want to make sure you get as many games in as possible. There’s only one streaming friendly team in this short week, and that’s the Chicago Bulls. Today we take a look at players who are owned in 7% or less of Yahoo leagues, and three players to add to your watch list.

Chicago Bulls

2 games scheduled between Monday 13th February and Sunday 19th February.

Why are Chicago Bulls players worth adding?
Is your roster full on Monday and Wednesday? Don’t stress, because Chicago play on both Tuesday and Thursday, (both low game days), and with key players still listed as day-to-day (Wade, Butler, Mirotic) there’s a chance guys like Jerian Grant (1% ownership), Doug McDermott (7% ownership) and Bobby Portis (4% ownership) get an extended run, and bump in usage.

Tarik Black (Los Angeles Lakers, PF/C)

Owned in 2% of Yahoo leagues.
2 games scheduled between Monday 13th February and Sunday 19th February.

Why is Tarik worth adding?
Mozgov has been a DNP-CD for three games in a row. And while most of us expected the Lakers to start benching him in the second half of the season, it’s surprising (and encouraging) to see it happening before the all-star break. Tarik has been starting, and while he’s not playing big minutes, he’s still able to get you double-digit rebounds and a block or two a game. The Lakers also play on Tuesday.

Nik Stauskas (Philadelphia 76ers, SG/SF)

Owned in 7% of Yahoo leagues.
2 games scheduled between Monday 13th February and Sunday 19th February.

Why is Nik worth adding?
Sauce has been on a mini-run lately, filling up the stat sheet in categories you’re not accustomed to him accumulating. Over the past seven days, he has averaged 11 PTS, 2 3PM, 4 REB, 4.5 AST and 0.8 STL. If the 76ers continue this new trend of letting Nik handle the ball, he’ll be a nice player to add to most deep league teams.

Dante Cunningham (New Orleans Pelicans, SF/PF)

Owned in 2% of Yahoo leagues.
2 games scheduled between Monday 13th February and Sunday 19th February.

Why is Tarik worth adding?
Dante has a shelf-life that expires once Jones returns, but we’re not sure when that will be, so for the moment Dante is a guy to stream into your roster. He has played back-to-back 38-minute games, and while he’s not a high usage guy, it’s hard not to tally some half-decent stats if you’re on the court for over 35 minutes. Over his past two games, he has averaged 13 PTS, 5 REB and 3.5 3PM. Stream him in if you’ve got a roster spot to fill.

Salah Mejri (Dallas Mavericks, C)

Owned in 1% of Yahoo leagues.
2 games scheduled between Monday 13th February and Sunday 19th February.

Why is Salah worth adding?
The only thing we’re interested in here is Mejri’s blocks. Sure, his 15 rebounds against Orlando were nice, but it’s not something to expect from him too often. One thing we can expect, though, are his blocks. Over his past three games, he has averaged 2.6 BLK per game. Need blocks? Salah is your guy.

Watch List Candidates

Players to add to your watch list to see how their situation plays out.

Thon Maker (Milwaukee Bucks, PF)

Owned in 6% of Yahoo leagues.
2 games scheduled between Monday 13th February and Sunday 19th February.

Why is Thon worth watching?
While we’re still unsure of Thon’s real age, one thing we can guarantee is his minutes will be inconsistent as long as Jason Kidd is the Bucks head coach. Thon had some nice moments in his start against Indiana, tallying 12 PTS, 3 3PM, and 2 STL, and is somebody you can add as a second-half of the season break-out candidate, but you have to expect a random DNP-CD along the way.

Anthony Tolliver (Sacramento Kings, SF/PF)

Owned in 4% of Yahoo leagues.
2 games scheduled between Monday 13th February and Sunday 19th February.

Why is Salah worth watching?
Tolliver will forever be a watch-list candidate, and a game-time add depending on what starting lineup the Kings are running out with on the day. He’s got the talent (10.3 PTS, 2.3 3PM, 4.8 REB and 1.5 STL over the past week), but his minutes are sporadic.

Rodney McGruder (Miami Heat, SG)

Owned in 1% of Yahoo leagues.
2 games scheduled between Monday 13th February and Sunday 19th February.

Why is Rodney worth watching?
Miami are struggling to keep their wing players healthy. It’s worth keeping an eye on Rodney (or specifically the injury status of the other Heat wings) to see if he continues to get 35+ minutes a game. If he does, he can make for a nice spot-start when you’re in need of some 3PM or STLs.
