Welcome to the first weekly waiver wire suggestions post, targeted at those who play in deep leagues (180ish players drafted).

Welcome to the first weekly waiver wire suggestions post, targeted at those who play in deep leagues (180ish players drafted). If you’re reading this looking for suggestions and expecting to read about players like Ryan Anderson and Kyle Korver, this post probably isn’t for you (and I wish you all of the best playing in your 6 team league).

The only pre-requisite of making this list is being owned in less than 25% of Yahoo leagues at the time of writing this post, meaning they’re likely to be available on the waiver wire in most deep leagues.

D.J. Augustin

Owned in 23% of Yahoo leagues.
3 games scheduled between Monday 3rd November and Sunday 9th November.

Why is Augustin worth adding?
Stan Van Gundy is the kind of coach who isn’t afraid to bench his starters when they’re not playing the way he wants them, and Brandon Jennings shot selection didn’t take long to warrant a benching. Augustin looks to be SVG’s point guard of choice in crunch time and he’s repaying the faith so far by putting up respectable numbers. Add him if he’s still available in your league.

Donald Sloan

Owned in 22% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 3rd November and Sunday 9th November.

Why is Sloan worth adding?
Sloan is putting up great numbers filling in for George Hill, but don’t expect this kind of output for too long, Hill will be back in a few weeks and Stuckey is still getting used to playing with his new teammates. It will be interesting to see how long Sloan can remain productive for, but for the moment hop on the Sloan train if he’s still available!

Kirk Hinrich

Owned in 14% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 3rd November and Sunday 9th November.

Why is Hinrich worth adding?
Another short shelf life guy. Hinrich is usually the first guard off the bench and is currently starting for Butler. Given the recent injury scare to Rose, Chicago may be looking to ease his playing time, which means a few extra minutes for Hinrich, who still has a few weeks of relevance and is an ideal candidate for a short term add.

Shane Larkin

Owned in 3% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 3rd November and Sunday 9th November.

Why is Larkin worth adding?
Larkin is your typical short shelf life guy. He’s starting while Calderon is out injured and is splitting point guard duties with Prigioni. Larkin is worth an add if you’re playing the wire and need a warm body for the next week or two.

Hollis Thompson & Chris Johnson

Owned in 2% and 1% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 3rd November and Sunday 9th November.

Why are Thompson & Johnson worth adding?
There aren’t too many guys still available in deep leagues who are logging 30 minutes per game. If you can take a hit in FG% (their team as a whole are terrible at putting the ball in the hoop) then these two are worth a look at purely because of the counting stats available in the 76ers starting line-up with Michael Carter-Williams out.

Garrett Temple

Owned in 1% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 3rd November and Sunday 9th November.

Why is Temple worth adding?
Temple’s relevance may not even play out the week, but as long as both Beal and Rice Jr are injured Washington don’t really have any other option. Add him if you’re desperate, but don’t choose him over somebody else with a better long-term outlook.

Alex Len

Owned in 2% of Yahoo leagues.
4 games scheduled between Monday 3rd November and Sunday 9th November.

Why is Len worth adding?
He may not be, but you have to pay attention when somebody puts up a double-double against the reigning champions, let alone when that somebody is only owned in 2% of leagues. Len may be worth a stash because of the lack of big men available on the wire.
