Recap of the Dallas at Indiana Game

Entering this game, the Dallas Wings should have been rested and well prepared for this game but it was a fight to get this victory because Indiana led for a large majority of the game except for the final minute of the fourth quarter. Aerial Powers and Glory Johnson made their return in this game and Glory Johnson came up big in the fourth quarter. Skylar Diggins-Smith was exceptional as she scored 15 first half points, 10 in the third quarter and scored on a basket that tied the game late fourth quarter. She missed the free throw but Glory Johnson was able to rebound and score on the putback that gave Dallas the lead and Dallas held on to win the game. This would have been a very bad loss for the Wings had they not made key plays in the final minute because Indiana was by far the better team. They could not just execute down the stretch. Dallas won their fourth game to improve to 4-3 on the season and won just their second road game.

The Dallas Wings face a tough test against the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday. After facing the team with the worst record in the league, they have to be ready against one of the top four teams in the league right now. The Mercury are rolling and are improving thanks to their superstars in Brittney Griner and Diana Taurasi. Another player who ought to be mentioned is Mercury star DeWanna Bonner who has been an excellent third option for the Mercury thus far. In previous seasons, this would have been a tough matchup for the Wings simply because they would not have the size to match up against Brittney Griner. This season, they have the answer. Elizabeth Cambage will be absolutely crucial in defending Brittney Griner and if healthy, Karima Christmas-Kelly/Allisha Gray will have their hands full with Diana Taurasi. This is going to be a tough matchup for the Wings because the Mercury present matchup problems with DeWanna Bonner. It will be important for the bench to step up in this game because Cambage and Diggins-Smith cannot do it alone. This is also the first matchup against the Mercury this year, so it will be important for the Wings to establish that they are a good team. This game should also be the debut of former Florida State guard Leticia Romero and Austrailian center Cayla George who were both signed two weeks ago.

Los Angeles Sparks vs Dallas Wings - Friday, June 15th

Tip-off: 7:00 pm local time, 8 pm EST

TV: Fox Sports Southwest Dallas Plus, WNBA League Pass

After facing the Phoenix Mercury, the Dallas Wings get another tough test against the Los Angeles Sparks when they come to visit a few days later. The Los Angeles Sparks present many challenges for the Wings as they have dynamic guards in Chelsea Gray and Odyssey Sims, two of the best forwards in Nneka Oguwmike and Candace Parker and one of the best perimeter defenders in the league in Alana Beard. Not only that, but they will have Russian star rookie Maria Vadeeva available. She has starred in Europe and is a well-known name overseas. The Wings will have their hands full in this game. It's going to take a stellar defensive effort to take down the Sparks. Liz Cambage and Skylar Diggins-Smith will need to play at a high level and the Wings are going to need contributions from the bench in order to win this game. This game will be tougher than the Mercury game because although the Mercury are very good right now, the Sparks are just a notch better. They present matchup problems for the Dallas Wings and the Wings are going to need a stellar defensive effort to grab an important victory at home.
