According to Gery Woelfel, of Woelfel's Press Box, there are trade talks between the Charlotte Hornets and Milwaukee Bucks for the Hornets to acquire Greg Monroe for Spencer Hawes and Jeremy Lamb.

For both sides, this trade makes a lot of sense.

For Charlotte, they get a big man who can immediately contribute on the offensive end. They also unload Spencer Hawes' contract and find a destination for Jeremy Lamb, a player who will barely see the court this season for Charlotte after trading for Marco Belinelli from Sacramento this summer.

Monroe would also give the Hornets a true center on their roster in the event that Roy Hibbert is not able to regain any of his form or confidence from his days as an Indiana Pacer. Ultimately, Milwaukee is ultimately looking to unload Greg Monroe, their coveted free agent from last summer. Over time, Monroe has not been a good fit for the Bucks, even though he is an offensive juggernaut with averages of 15.3 points and 8.8 rebounds. Milwaukee is a disaster with Monroe on the floor allowing 109.2 points per 100 possessions. Monroe's defensive plus/minus rating was also 0.2 and his block rate was 2.5 in his first season with Milwaukee. Charlotte is used to playing with poor defensive centers in the past with big man Al Jefferson, and with head coach Steve Clifford's defensive scheme he should be able to quickly mask Monroe's defensive inefficiencies.

For Milwaukee, things have been in flux for the team after losing star player Khris Middleton for possibly the season after suffering a serious hamstring injury.

With Middleton gone, they are slotted to currently start Rashad Vaughn according to Bucks head coach Jason Kidd. While Vaughn is a good player, he is not ready to handle the weight of starter minutes since he is still a raw prospect; same for Malcolm Brogdon, Milwaukee's 2016 second round pick. So with Lamb, they get a shooting guard with NBA experience that is just looking for the opportunity to crack an NBA rotation and earn playing time, since he rarely found it during his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Charlotte Hornets.

Lamb is a solid shooter, shooting 33 percent from 3-point range for his career, and scorer, averaging 8.8 points off the bench for Charlotte in limited play last season. If Lamb were to receive starter minutes, his per 36 averages would be 16.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Spencer Hawes will also bring some extra shooting to a Milwaukee squad who struggles from beyond the arc, being a career 35.3 percent 3-point shooter. If Milwaukee wants to make it back to the playoffs with their young squad, they need to find a quick solution to the loss of Middleton, and both Lamb and Hawes would be a great fit.
