It is feeling more and more unlikely that the Hawks will re-sign All-Star Al Horford.
Seemingly every team in the league is clamoring for Al Horford's do-it-all services. Who blames them? Horford has the type of skill set that can blend with any team's philosophies and instantly make them better. There's one advantage Atlanta has when it comes to re-signing him. They can offer more money and add an extra, fifth year to the contract. However, according to Zach Lowe and other sources, Atlanta has been weary of offering that fifth year. The hesitancy may have already cost them.
It is known that he's already talked to the Hawks and Oklahoma City Thunder as of day one of free agency. Still on his list of suitors are the Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, and well, every other team with the finances to sign him. Many teams also see him as a pivotal piece in convincing superstar Kevin Durant to join them. These other destinations may be too sexy for Horford to pass up.
For the Hawks, they risk watching Horford walk while receiving absolutely nothing in return.
