The Atlanta Dream entered Week 2 of the WNBA season hoping to improve their record. They faced two Western conference opponents both of which were at home. They only played two games this week and ended the week with a 1-1 record. Listed below are the main points from both games this week.

Game #4 - MINNESOTA LYNX AT ATLANTA DREAM - MAY 29TH

Final score: ATL 76, MINN 74

  • In the first half, Atlanta struggled shooting the ball and were 0-7 from three.
  • The Lynx led by 3 (34-31) at halftime.
  • Both teams shot under 40% in that first half
  • The Dream did not hit their first three-pointer until the midway point of the third quarter.
  • Minnesota had it's biggest lead at ten with about 2 minutes left in the third quarter and Atlanta cut the lead to six entering the fourth quarter.
  • With about five minutes left in the game, Minnesota held an eight-point lead and things changed quickly in Atlanta's favor.
  •  Jessica Breland was crucial in the fourth quarter, especially in the last few minutes as she was able to score key baskets
  • She also had a huge block late against the Lynx who were up by 1 at that point of the game.
  • The Lynx looked worn down in the final quarter and the Dream took full advantage of it.

  • The Phoenix Mercury were red hot in the first quarter and led 19-9 midway through the first.
  • Phoenix led 25-19 after the first and shot 69%.
  • Atlanta really struggled in the second quarter, at one point, they were just shooting 6% in the quarter.
  • Phoenix's length disrupted some of the Dream's shots and at the half, they shot just 24% compared to Phoenix's 54%.
  • Phoenix led 38-30 at the half.
  • Atlanta came back in the third quarter and was just down one near the end.
  • Their shooting woes continued, despite only trailing Phoenix by just one after the third quarter (56-55)
  • Although Atlanta had chances to win this game, they could not pull through.
  • They were not able to take and the lead and Phoenix held on.
  • Atlanta fell to 2-3 on the season while Phoenix improved to 4-2
