Entering Week 8 of the WNBA season, the Atlanta Dream went 1-1 against the top two teams in the WNBA. Can they gain some momentum now with the addition of Alex Bentley?

The Atlanta Dream have now played half of their games and sit in eighth place after a two-game week. They now have the chance to move up in the standings but it does not get any easier as they face the Mystics twice along with the Fever this week.

Before we get into this week's slate of games, let's take a look back at last week for the Dream in these brief game recaps.

Seattle at Atlanta - Game Recap

Coming into this game, Atlanta was looking to make a statement. However, the Storm had other ideas and left Atlanta with a road win. After Atlanta got off to a hot start, Seattle scored 14 of the 15 points and never trailed. The Dream did come back in the game and were down by six early in the fourth quarter, but the Storm's Jewell Loyd made key baskets and the Dream could not get any closer. The Dream fell to below .500 after this game. Atlanta showed moments of toughness but it was not enough against the top team in the WNBA.

Phoenix at Atlanta - Game Recap

After the loss against the Storm at home, the Dream were looking to get back on track against the second best team in the league, the Phoenix Mercury. They did just that and earned an important home victory. They also split their two-game week. Atlanta, just like in the previous game against Seattle, got off to a hot start. This time, however, they were able to maintain it and were leading by a score of 62-39 with 4 minutes in the third when the Mercury made a frantic push. The Dream were able to hold the Mercury off and held on for the win.

After facing the top two teams in the league, the Atlanta Dream face the third-best team, the Washington Mystics twice and the Indiana Fever. The Dream are in the eighth spot but will have a new player addition in Alex Bentley when they face the Mystics and the Fever.

Atlanta at Washington - Wednesday, July 11

Tip-off: 11:30 am EST
TV: Monumental, WNBA League Pass

The Atlanta Dream kick off this week in an early camp day game against the Washington Mystics. The Mystics are currently the third best team in the WNBA and the Dream have their work cut out for them. Since this is an early camp day game, the Dream will have to be ready to play against one of the top offenses. The Dream will have to defend against the likes of Elena Delle Donne and Kristi Toliver. This is the first game of the season series between these two teams. Alex Bentley, who was acquired from Connecticut, may play in this game.

Indiana at Atlanta - Friday, July 13

Tip-off: 7:00 pm EST
TV: Fox Sports Southeast Atlanta, Monumental, WNBA League Pass

After a quick road trip to DC, the Dream come home for two home games. The first home game is against the last place Indiana Fever. This is the last game between the two teams. The Dream are currently leading the season series 2-1 and could win the season series with a victory. The Dream will need to defend against the likes of Kelsey Mitchell, Candice Dupree, Victoria Vivians, etc. This is a winnable game for the Dream and both Tiffany Hayes and Angel McCoughtry will have an impact on this game.

Washington at Atlanta - Sunday, July 15

Tip-off: 3:00 pm EST
TV: Fox Sports Southeast Atlanta, Monumental, WNBA League Pass

After facing the Mystics in DC earlier this week, the Dream face the Mystics again, this time at home. This is also the second home game of the homestand. The Dream can end their week off with a nice victory but they will have to be ready to defend as Washington has many weapons. If the Dream can limit their scoring options, they will walk away with a home victory. This is also the second game of the three-game season series between these two teams and the Dream can strike first.
