The Atlanta Dream have an important week ahead of them as they try to take control of their home schedule. They face two tough tests in the Minnesota Lynx and the Phoenix Mercury. Both are tough opponents for the Dream as they try to establish themselves as playoff contenders.

Tuesday, May 29: vs Minnesota Lynx

This is the first matchup between these two teams. The Atlanta Dream face a tough task in this game. The Minnesota Lynx's core may be older, but that does not mean it gets any easier. The Dream will have to contend with Sylvia Fowles, and Elizabeth Williams will have her hands full with this assignment. Angel McCoughtry and Tiffany Hayes will have to defend against Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus. This is also a homecoming game for Maya Moore which is always dangerous for the Dream as players tend to step up their game. Although Lindsay Whalen may have a lost a step, Renee Montgomery will have to try to slow her down. If there is an advantage to this game, it may be that Renee Montgomery knows her ex-teammates well and will most likely help her teammates out. I expect Montgomery to have a big impact in this game. Winning this game may be difficult for the Dream but if they do, it would be a very significant win for the Atlanta Dream in the early part of the season.

Sunday, June 3: vs Phoenix Mercury

The Dream get some rest and don't face the Phoenix Mercury until the weekend so they will be ready for this game. This is an afternoon game and it sure will be a good game. This game will exceed 80 points or more because both teams love to run and score the basketball. It will be just a matter of who will defend and get stops to win this game. Elizabeth Williams will have another tough test ahead of her as she tries to slow down Brittney Griner which is not easy.  I expect both Angel McCoughtry and Tiffany Hayes to have big games as Phoenix don't have the matchups for them to slow them down. On the other hand, it will be tough to try to defend Diana Taurasi who has been looking fresh to start this 2018 WNBA season. The Atlanta Dream's bench will be key to this victory as they can be the difference between either winning or losing this game.
